Movies for a Stay At Home Christmas 2020

Being an ardent Disney fan, you will see quite a few Disney movies in here. Who else can make you a perfect holiday movie better than them?

  • The holiday: it is a movie about two girls from different countries who swap homes for the holidays to get away from their relationship issues. However, their lives change unexpectedly when they meet and fall in love with two local guys. The whole movie is in the backdrop of Christmassy weather and celebrations, so definitely it is a good watch on the festive days that too with a super talented cast like Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and Jack Black and plot twists.
  • Home alone 2: Lost in new york: undoubtedly, Home alone had to be on the list. We all grew up watching this and I guess it is never going to get old. We will keep laughing on those same lines, probably uttering those dialogues ourselves. Definitely, a good watch for Christmas with the red and golden decor theme!
  • Disney’s A Christmas carol: It is a film adaptation of Charles Dickens’s 1843 story of the same name and stars Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Bob Hoskins, Robin Wright, and Cary Elwes. Based on a classic Christmas novel, A Christmas Carol is an entirely enjoyable movie to watch in the winter holidays.

  • Princess switch 1 and 2: Stacy is off to Bengravia for a baking competition. She recently broke her heart and after a lot of persuasion by her closest friend and partner… and his daughter, she agrees to join the competition. She reaches the venue only to discover that she is identical to the princess. What follows is a topsy turvy take of love between these four. It is a very enjoyable movie that will leave you with a good feeling days after watching it. Stream it on Netflix.
  • Godmothered : It is a film on how a fairy godmother finds her usefulness even in the age of smartphones and gadgets everywhere. She comes from a fairyland into the inhabitations of Humans, as she found some assignments by a lil girl who lives in London. She decides to prove everyone wrong and help a young girl whose plea for help went unnoticed. What lies ahead is a road full of hurdles and uncertainty. Does the fairy Godmother finally find her way into her job?
  • Scrooged: it is a story about a cynically selfish TV executive, who is haunted by three spirits bearing lessons on Christmas Eve. With the help of the ghosts of the past, present, and future, he realizes that he must reform himself. This is too based on the classic ‘A Christmas Carol’.
  • The polar express: A young boy boards a train and embarks on an extraordinary journey to the North Pole to meet Santa Claus. His life takes a turn after he encounters special people that make his journey memorable. The Polar Express is a movie that brings back the good memories of childhood. It talks about adventure and the good things you might found in the places you least expected it.
  • A Christmas story: This movie follows the wintry exploits of youngster Ralphie Parker, who spends most of his time dodging a bully and dreaming of his ideal Christmas gift, a “Red Ryder air rifle.” Frequently at odds with his cranky dad but comforted by his doting mother, Ralphie struggles to make it to Christmas Day with his glasses and his hopes intact. With quite a similar set of Home Alone, we see here the holiday celebrations with a Lil guy who explores his relationship with people and that is exactly what makes it very warm and a feel-good movie.
  • How the Grinch stole Christmas: Grinch lives in solitude just outside Whoville. He hates the townsfolk and despises Christmas. Cindy Lou, a six-year-old girl who believes in the spirit of the festival, sets out to reform him. Meanwhile, Grinch with his company tries to sweep off all the signs of the festival. It is a Disney movie, so expect the emotional moment.

  • Mary Poppins Returns: it’s an independent sequel to the 1964 film Mary Poppins. It’s a musical where there are beautiful messages been weaved into songs. The film is sure to take you back to childhood, when we tend to believe in ourselves the most and trust the imagination above all. The main story is probably known to all. Mary Poppins is a magical character who comes down to earth from the sky holding a big blue kite and solves people’s problems serving them as a nanny. She is aunt agony to the family making them aware of the resources so that they get out of their daily perils pretty easily. The mood of the movie is dark black and red and very festive music is what makes it worthy to be on this festive watchlist!
